Copper port terminal for MATSA at the Huelva harbor

Transport infrastructures / Ports and airport

Alternatives and complementary variables approach to the layouts for the new MATSA terminal at the Huelva harbor.

Hired services:

  • Basic project

Characteristics:

Adjustment of a import-export dock to be used by different companies with two longitudinal industrial buildings.

Different alternatives have been proposed in base to combine different storage options, handling systems and loading and downloading systems.

Storage capacity:                            540.000t or 660.000t (depending on the alternative)

Industrial building surface:           52.490 m2 or 63.230 m2 (depending on the alternative)

A three stage development od s proposed as the ideal solution:

  1. MATSA storage facility at the current dock + ship loading with tripper belt at the south side of the dock thru a handling system. The execution of this stage will be simultaneously developed with the stuffing consolidation works of the new dock.
  2. After the stuffing is consolidated we will proceed to build the to additional industrial buildings (Trafigura + Atlantic Copper) + ship loading with tripper belt at the south side of the dock thru a handling system.
  3. In case that the executed infrastructure in stage 2 is revealed with insufficient time because of operative reasons of downloading the ships on a simultaneous way (demand reasons, operative advantage…) a supplementary belt will be implemented to the download of the ships on the north side of the dock.
