Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) awards IDP to develop the consultancy work for the execution of a development plan for a new intermodal service adapted to the meet industry needs in Catalonia.
The plan is placed in the context of the iFreightMED-DC project, driven by the MED program of the European Union, which counts with the economic support of the Regional Development Fund for the Mediterranean Arch.
The meet production in Catalonia had a strong development and need to find new markets, located at ever-greater distances, which makes the road transport get to its efficiency limits. That’s why, INNOVACC, an aggrupation of the pork meet sector companies, is thinking to explore other opportunities that the intermodal approach offers to the meet industry companies to expand markets. This interest matches with the interest of the Development Committee of Railroad Routes, a Project financed with FEDER funds of the MED program, which wants to impulse new rail connections adapted to the needs of theirs potential clients.
With this performance, IDP consolidates its experience in the cargo transport infrastructures ambit, where currently IDP is developing a considerable number of national and international projects.
